The foundation of Jabil’s Respect. Recognize. Reward. program is built on a respectful work environment where everyone is empowered to contribute to the success of the company. The program’s goal is to discover, highlight and share employees’ superior performance and their commitment to helping others.
Employee recognition has always been an integral part of Jabil’s culture and, following our belief in empowerment, each site designed its local recognition program to fit its unique culture. When the Respect. Recognize. Reward. program was developed in 2010, it was critical that sites continue to run its local programs while at the same time, giving them the ability to submit exceptional employees for global recognition. This structure has resulted in hundreds of Jabil employees, from all departments, locations and functions, to be recognized and celebrated each quarter. Employees’ actions and results vary, but their contributions all support Jabil’s Guiding Principles.
When Terri Valeda started at Jabil four years ago, she was eager to get involved in Jabil's community outreach and volunteerism initiatives. It's something that's always been true to her heart; helping those in need and caring for our environment. It takes a special kind of person to make the impact Terri has made in such a short period of time.
She supports a variety of Jabil Cares initiatives at the St. Petersburg campus that touch all areas of our outreach focus: education, empowerment and the environment. Over the past few years, she's been instrumental is raising money for the American Heart Association Heart Walk, even garnering the title of Top Walker multiple occasions.
One area of Terri's volunteerism that stands out the most is her commitment as a mentor at Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Tampa Bay. Terri dedicates time each week to visit her 'little' at Campbell Park Elementary School where the two share stories, play games and create lasting bonds with one another.
Terri's passion for the program comes as no surprise to those who know her best. She gleams with excitement every time she talks about spending time with her own granddaughter and the joys of being a Grandma. The two enjoy splashing in the water and building sandcastles at some of the most picturesque beaches along the Gulf Coast.
Terri is defined as a person who truly makes a difference in the lives of others out of the goodness of her heart. She often says she's just doing what she loves, but its an example worth sharing of how we all should live.
