The foundation of Jabil’s Respect. Recognize. Reward. program is built on a respectful work environment where everyone is empowered to contribute to the success of the company. The program’s goal is to discover, highlight and share employees’ superior performance and their commitment to helping others.
Employee recognition has always been an integral part of Jabil’s culture and, following our belief in empowerment, each site designed its local recognition program to fit its unique culture. When the Respect. Recognize. Reward. program was developed in 2010, it was critical that sites continue to run its local programs while at the same time, giving them the ability to submit exceptional employees for global recognition. This structure has resulted in hundreds of Jabil employees, from all departments, locations and functions, to be recognized and celebrated each quarter. Employees’ actions and results vary, but their contributions all support Jabil’s Guiding Principles.
Angela Smoke sees the beauty in the gift of life everyday — whether it’s enjoying time with her two young sons or taking pride in the healthcare products made at Nypro’s Asheville facility. “I like knowing that my work helps save lives,” said Angela. “It’s that personal connection which makes me enjoy coming to work everyday.”
Angela loves spending time with her family. She often takes them into the Great Smoky Mountains to go camping or mountain biking. “It’s a true joy to watch them learn and grow into who they are,” says Angela. “They always put a big smile on my face and make me laugh — the key to happiness.”
She says raising her family in Asheville, North Carolina has been an incredible blessing. “We have such a diverse community and the beauty of all four seasons,” adds Angela. In addition, she relishes any opportunity to volunteer at her children’s school and help shape young minds of the future.
One of the unique adventures Angela wants to embark on is seeing the Seven Wonders of the World. “I’m not exactly sure which one I would see first, but seeing a “Wonder” in person would remind me that anything is possible,” she says.
It’s the same approach she takes as a Quality Assurance Supervisor at Nypro. “The sky's the limit,” says Angela. “I want to contribute to the success of the company which is committed to empowering employees and making a difference in our community.”
