The foundation of Jabil’s Respect. Recognize. Reward. program is built on a respectful work environment where everyone is empowered to contribute to the success of the company. The program’s goal is to discover, highlight and share employees’ superior performance and their commitment to helping others.
Employee recognition has always been an integral part of Jabil’s culture and, following our belief in empowerment, each site designed its local recognition program to fit its unique culture. When the Respect. Recognize. Reward. program was developed in 2010, it was critical that sites continue to run its local programs while at the same time, giving them the ability to submit exceptional employees for global recognition. This structure has resulted in hundreds of Jabil employees, from all departments, locations and functions, to be recognized and celebrated each quarter. Employees’ actions and results vary, but their contributions all support Jabil’s Guiding Principles.
As a Buyer at Jabil’s Poughkeepsie site in New York, Joe Chiarella coordinates the timely delivery of materials to help customers bring their products to market. Joe’s leadership in this area cannot be understated as he coordinates weekly team meetings and frequently meets with customers to ensure quality standards. He’s been a part of the Jabil team for over 3 years.
Joe enjoys driving Jabil’s continuous improvement culture by lending his expertise to various Lean projects. He does this by connecting with Jabil’s ‘challenge yourself and others’ and ‘think creatively’ culture. “I enjoy cross-collaborating with other departments and helping provide solutions to improve processes,” says Joe.
Outside of work, Joe and his family live an active lifestyle in the Hudson Valley region of New York. They enjoy biking and hiking in the Catskill Mountains and fishing local lakes and rivers. “This area has a rich history dating back to the American Revolution,” said Joe. “I’ve traveled throughout the United States and this is one of the most beautiful areas in the country.” He also has a passion for photography.
In the future, Joe dreams of traveling to Europe; specifically Italy and Germany to learn more about his and his wife’s ancestral heritage. “To me, it’s fascinating to research your family’s history and culture,” said Joe. He also hopes to travel back to Switzerland where he spent a lot of time but never had an opportunity to explore the country’s picturesque landscape. “I would love to see my friends again and fully experience the Swiss culture,” added Joe.
