The foundation of Jabil’s Respect. Recognize. Reward. program is built on a respectful work environment where everyone is empowered to contribute to the success of the company. The program’s goal is to discover, highlight and share employees’ superior performance and their commitment to helping others.
Employee recognition has always been an integral part of Jabil’s culture and, following our belief in empowerment, each site designed its local recognition program to fit its unique culture. When the Respect. Recognize. Reward. program was developed in 2010, it was critical that sites continue to run its local programs while at the same time, giving them the ability to submit exceptional employees for global recognition. This structure has resulted in hundreds of Jabil employees, from all departments, locations and functions, to be recognized and celebrated each quarter. Employees’ actions and results vary, but their contributions all support Jabil’s Guiding Principles.
Julie Overstreet understands the importance of creating a safe working environment for employees. In fact, she’s made it her mission! As an Environmental, Health, and Safety Engineer at Nypro Mebane, Julie is responsible for training employees on the latest policies and procedures to ensure full safety compliance of everyone at the site. “My goal is to make Nypro one of the safest places to work,” she says.
What’s enabled Julie to be so successful at her job is her ability to listen to others’ experiences and ideas. This allows her to understand their challenges, find continuous improvement opportunities and provide solutions. Julie hopes to share best practices and collaborate with other Jabil/Nypro locations in the future.
Outside of work, Julie enjoys spending time outdoors, taking full advantage of the city’s proximity to the Appalachian Mountains. “The mountains offer an escape from the daily stresses of life and allows you to connect with nature,” she says. “The miles of hiking and biking trails make for a pretty good workout, but more significantly, a way to spend time with family and friends.”
Julie strongly believes in giving back to her community. Every year she works with a local Masonic Lodge which raises money to support a local orphanage. “We’re truly making a difference in these children’s lives — it’s very rewarding,” said Julie. “It’s also a great opportunity to meet people in the community who are passionate about like-minded causes and committed to making our community a better place.”
