The foundation of Jabil’s Respect. Recognize. Reward. program is built on a respectful work environment where everyone is empowered to contribute to the success of the company. The program’s goal is to discover, highlight and share employees’ superior performance and their commitment to helping others.
Employee recognition has always been an integral part of Jabil’s culture and, following our belief in empowerment, each site designed its local recognition program to fit its unique culture. When the Respect. Recognize. Reward. program was developed in 2010, it was critical that sites continue to run its local programs while at the same time, giving them the ability to submit exceptional employees for global recognition. This structure has resulted in hundreds of Jabil employees, from all departments, locations and functions, to be recognized and celebrated each quarter. Employees’ actions and results vary, but their contributions all support Jabil’s Guiding Principles.
Being a Production Group Leader at Jabil’s Shenzhen Plastic Green Point site comes with many responsibilities, but none more important than ensuring the daily safety of all employees. That’s why Qingguo Zhong has dedicated himself to making safety always top-of-mind.
One of Qingguo’s core responsibilities is to train employees on forklift and crane operation. “I view safety in two levels,” he says. “First is human safety, where all of our operators work in a safe working environment and are cognizant of their surroundings. Second is equipment safety, where machines are inspected everyday to ensure a safe and fluid operation.”
Qingguo attributes Jabil’s Safety First culture for his success. “We are held to the highest standards in safety, accountability and strive to always do what’s right,” he says.
Outside of work, Qingguo is committed to living a healthy lifestyle. He oftentimes takes walks around his neighborhood or meets up with friends to play badminton. “Physical activities help my mind and body release the daily stresses of work,” he says. “I also read a lot about current events happening in my hometown and around the world.”
“Right now, I’m truly enjoying life with my family and three children — they always bring a smile to my face,” says Qingguo. “To me success in life is having a positive attitude, internal happiness, and being content with yourself.”
