The foundation of Jabil’s Respect. Recognize. Reward. program is built on a respectful work environment where everyone is empowered to contribute to the success of the company. The program’s goal is to discover, highlight and share employees’ superior performance and their commitment to helping others.
Employee recognition has always been an integral part of Jabil’s culture and, following our belief in empowerment, each site designed its local recognition program to fit its unique culture. When the Respect. Recognize. Reward. program was developed in 2010, it was critical that sites continue to run its local programs while at the same time, giving them the ability to submit exceptional employees for global recognition. This structure has resulted in hundreds of Jabil employees, from all departments, locations and functions, to be recognized and celebrated each quarter. Employees’ actions and results vary, but their contributions all support Jabil’s Guiding Principles.
As a Quality Engineer at Jabil’s San Jose site, Kris Brekke is responsible for New Product Introduction and Advanced Quality Planning. His role helps ensure that Jabil adheres to its strict quality standards by identifying potential issues early in the design and development process thus minimizing risk and increasing customer satisfaction. While Kris is passionate about the site’s cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities, he relishes the opportunities Jabil provides to give back to the community.
“I feel connected to San Jose,” said Kris. “Even though its a city of roughly one million people, there is still a strong sense of local community throughout area — youth sports, town parades and festivals really evoke a small town feel.”
Outside of Jabil, Kris is heavily involved in supporting his children’s interest in competitive baseball by helping coach their Little League team. When not on the field, he explores the great outdoors through his passion for biking and riding dual sport motor bikes. “Being able to spend time with my family means a lot to me,” added Kris. “We enjoy camping and fishing in the High Sierra Mountains on the California/Nevada border.”
Additionally, he’s an active member of the American Society for Quality through sharing his knowledge and expertise in statistics and reliability. During the holidays, Kris and his wife support the local Sons of Norway Lutefisk dinner to honor and celebrate his Norwegian heritage.
In the future, he hopes to travel to Norway, the Land of the Midnight Sun to visit distant relatives and learn more about the history of his family name which stems from the region.
