Jabil Singapore Awarded AS9100 Aerospace Certification
23 June 2005
St. Petersburg, FL
ST. PETERSBURG, FL – June 23, 2005 – Jabil Circuit, Inc. (NYSE: JBL) today announced that its Singapore operation has been awarded Aerospace Standard AS9100 certification. It is the fifth Jabil facility to earn the designation.
"Jabil Singapore's AS9100 certification is a significant milestone in our aerospace-industry growth strategy," said "Steve Borges, Jabil Vice President of Business Development. "We have succeeded in strategically positioning 9100-certified facilities in key locations to serve our aerospace customers around the world."
The 9100 standard was developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group to help major aerospace companies ensure their suppliers meet stringent standards for product design, development, production, installation and servicing. As a leading provider of Electronics Manufacturing Services solutions to the aerospace industry, Jabil's Billerica, Massachusetts, St. Petersburg, Florida, Tempe, Arizona, and Brest, France, plants are 9100 certified.
Borges said competitive pressures are driving defense and aerospace contractors to take a fresh look at how their resources are deployed. Many are turning to global electronics manufacturers like Jabil to manage non-core aspects of their operations, such as design, manufacturing, supply-chain management and reverse logistics.
"Defense and Aerospace contractors are finding that experienced companies such as Jabil can help them streamline product development, improve the reliability of their products, and lower their total costs, which is absolutely essential in today's market."
The aerospace industry is positioned for continued growth, Borges said. "Jabil's goal is to be the industry's premier electronics solutions provider and achieving the Singapore AS9100 certification is another step towards attaining that goal."
