Power Conversion Systems

Electric Power Conversion is the management, control and/or change of electric energy from one voltage or frequency to another. Power conversion typically includes the control and management (regulation) of the input or output energy. Various topologies and control theory mechanisms are applied at a circuit level to manage electrical energy transfer through components.

Typical components in a Power Conversion System include:

  • Controls and Controllers (including Microprocessors)
  • Capacitors
  • Inductors
  • Transformers
  • Voltage or Current Sensing Devices
  • Switching Devices Including:
    - Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors
    - Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistors
    - Diodes
    - Silicon Carbide
