Employees Maintain Habitat for Humanity Tradition

Working with integrity and inspiration, sites across the United States are committed to helping Habitat for Humanity, an international nonprofit that partners with community members to help build their first home. After Nypro was acquired by Jabil in 2013, many sites continued the home-building tradition in alignment with Jabil Cares’ focus area of Empowerment.

Some facilities have a long-term relationship with local Habitats including our sites in Atlanta, Georgia, and Mount Pleasant, Iowa, which have worked with the organization for eight years and five years, respectively. Jabil Atlanta employees put in 96 hours of hard work to help build a house for a single mother of two, with “many coming straight from work to paint, hang doors, build a porch and install beam supports,” said Angela Alexander, Human Resources Manager at Jabil Atlanta. “It’s inspiring to see our employees get involved with this every year.”

Additionally, Mount Pleasant employees often jump at the chance to get involved with these projects, with 20 employees volunteering at their last build. Many of them are recurring volunteers like Jackie Potts, Supply Chain Development Manager, who has helped with four homes. The site is prepared to continue the tradition this year, as it waits for the next home assignment.

Other facilities have a newer connection to Habitat for Humanity, such as the Chula Vista, California, and Mebane, North Carolina, which have both helped build homes in their communities for three years. And most recently, a Finance team at Jabil Corporate collaborated with the local Habitat for the first time this year. Using this as both a team-building and outreach event, employees spent a day working on the interior of a home in St. Petersburg, Florida. “This event was such a great opportunity to give back, build bonds with coworkers and have some fun,” said Sarah Bishoff, Project Manager.

Regardless of how long they have worked with the local Habitat for Humanity, each site’s dedication to the cause is inspirational. The spirit of empowerment continues to shine at Nypro and Jabil sites, and more families in the community are being positively impacted by our employees’ care and compassion.
