For the second consecutive year, the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) selected Jabil as a finalist for its Lean Division Best Practice Award 2015. This year two projects from Jabil made it to the final round. Jabil’s Lean design of a new Nypro Healthcare Manufacturing Facility has been awarded second place. The projects were originally a part of Jabil’s Deliver Best Practices, an internal global competition dedicated to promoting a Lean mindset within Jabil.
Two Nypro Healthcare team members, Ken McClannon and Sean Roche were presented the IIE award during an awards ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., on June 1. The Nypro team competed against five other teams, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (placing first), Bosch Hungary (placing third), Boeing, Nokia and Jabil’s own Venray site – whose project focused on how they innovated in a short period of time to continue to delight Jabil’s customers.
“This project allowed us to take advantage of the rare opportunity to develop a new healthcare facility by leveraging best practices, lessons learned and applying the ‘Design for X’ Lean Six Sigma approach,” said McClannon.
Jabil takes great pride in employees worldwide dedication to Lean. “This is an incredible honor for Jabil, our Lean Six Sigma Program and the Deliver Best Practices competition,” said Walt Garvin, Vice President Global Lean Six Sigma. “It’s a testament to the continuous improvement culture being implemented at our sites around the world.”
