Understanding the Impact of the Demand Driven Supply Chain

The concept of the demand driven supply chain was developed in response to a major flaw in supply chain forecasting – it's impossible to predict the future. This uncertainty often results in a bullwhip effect where the delay of information traveling up the supply chain results in surpluses and shortages. The demand driven supply chain attempts to mitigate this situation by responding to actual consumption and by providing an extra layer of assurance through the use of analytics.
