The average person misplaces upwards of 3,000 items per year and then spends 60 hours searching for them. Tile is a California-based start-up that brings a powerful solution to that problem – a wireless tracking application that helps people find the things they have lost.
The Tile App started as a risky crowdfunding project that made it big! When the idea for the wireless tracking device and app took off through the funding initiative, the company needed to move from a small China manufacturer to a real partner who would be able to ensure everything from design and quality to mass production delivery in time for the holidays.
Jabil was chosen as that partner.
Sandor Kiss, Tile’s head of manufacturing operations, had worked with Jabil previously and he knew Jabil was the partner they needed. But he also knew that with only three people in the business, a $3 million funding campaign, and 50,000 customers – it would be a stretch for Jabil to even consider taking on the business. After an internal roadshow designed to convince Jabil leadership that Tile was worth the risk – Jabil took the project on. Just 1+ year from the launch of the solution, Tile has shipped more than 5 million units. The team attributes much of its design, quality, and delivery success to Jabil to this day and has been a powerful advocate of Jabil’s value.
