With school around the globe back in session, Jabil wanted to make sure children go back prepared for a great year. Under Jabil Cares’ Education focus area, many sites regularly support local efforts that focus on providing children in need with school supplies.

At Jabil Wuxi, employees donated money to pay for tuition fees, uniforms and school supplies for migrant students at Qinghe Primary School. The site has worked with the school for 11 years, contributing to tuition costs and working with students through tutoring programs. Likewise, a thousand miles west at the Jabil facility in Chengdu, China, employees are serving as tutors to students at the nearby Dahua Elementary School. At our facility in Shanghai, employees donated over 200 books and a dozen computers to the local government’s “Edu-Aid Donation” event, which were then distributed to 12 schools in the Tibet Autonomous region.

Jabil Guadalajara collected school-related items, such as backpacks, lunchboxes and thermoses for 30 youth living at Casa Hogar Florecitas del Carmen, a home dedicated to the care and education of girls coming from unstable family situations. “Children are such an important part of the community. We’re lucky to have such supportive and caring employees, who make it possible to help the younger generation,” said Mireysa Gonzalez, Human Resource Business Partner. Employees in San Jose donated 20 backpacks filled with pencils, notebooks, binders, paper and calculators which were given to Family Giving Tree, a group which started as a holiday gift-giving program for children in need, but over the course of its 25-year history has helped more than one million children.

In St. Petersburg, Jabil Corporate held its 4th annual “Stuff the Bus” drive to support the Pinellas Education Foundation and collected over 350 lbs of school supplies. Jabil has supported the Foundation, a nonprofit partnership of businesses and community leaders dedicated to improving educational opportunities, for the past 15 years. On the day of the event, a dozen employees organized and packed a school bus full of supplies to be delivered to schools in need. "The Stuff the Bus event is my favorite volunteer event of the year as I have multiple family members who work in public education and this is my contribution to the 'family business’,” said Andrea Wolf, Communications Manager.  “I'm thankful Jabil sponsors such an impactful event for our local community and schools.”

Other sites focused on giving back to their internal community – their employees! In Europe and Latin America, Jabil sites supported the employees’ children by providing them with essential school supply items. In Uzhgorod, Ukraine, the site provided a Jabil-branded backpack filled with colored pencils, folders, paper, rulers and pens for 1,200 children. In Chihuahua, their annual “Scholar Packages” event provided school supplies for 400 children of Jabil employees. In addition, employees’ children, who had A or A- grades in the previous school year, were invited to the “Best Grades” event where they were given Jabil backpacks and took a field trip to a science discovery museum.

With over 3,000 children impacted and hundreds of supplies donated to prepare for school, Jabil Cares programs are ready to continue to support education throughout the school year through tutoring and mentoring programs, including supporting local middle and high school’s robotics teams.
