Jabil Helps Children in Need Across the World
Many Jabil sites have found the greatest need for help in their communities is with at-risk children. In alignment with Jabil Cares’ focus area of Empowerment, facilities have demonstrated their commitment to localized efforts that support orphanages and transition homes for abused or neglected youth.
Jabil South Africa delivering items to Tshwane Haven
Jabil’s site in Midrand, South Africa, collected items for the Tshwane Haven Home of Safety, which houses 21 children with conditions ranging from HIV+ to tuberculosis to heart and lung issues, as well as those who were premature, abused or malnourished. The Jabil site supplied The Haven Home with baby food, baby wipes and formula for infants, as well as 100 children's books. “Unfortunately, Tshwane Haven is constantly receiving children to care for, so Jabil South Africa will continue to support the Haven in any way that we can,” said Jane Naidoo, Human Resources Generalist.
In Europe, Jabil Hungary donated new clothing and shoes to two Saint Francis Foundation orphanages in Transylvania, Romania. The Foundation has more than a dozen homes and has cared for 1,500 orphans. “One of the best ways we can invest in our future is to invest in the children,” said Monika Trescsikne Fancsik, Human Resources Manager. “So, we’ll do what we can to help them.”
Engineered Solutions Group senior team in St. Petersburg at Friends of Joshua House
Across the Atlantic Ocean, St. Petersburg Corporate worked with the Friends of Joshua House Foundation, a transition home for 35 children who have been quickly removed from a dangerous home environment. After learning a child at the Foundation was bullied at school for having mismatched shoes, the Engineered Solutions Group senior team donated a new pair of shoes and clothing to every child at Joshua House. “We can’t change the world immediately; however, the small things we are doing for the younger generation can change their life a little bit,” said Charlie Hou, Jabil Senior Business Unit Director.
Other Jabil sites have built long-term relationships with organizations in their communities. Every month for the last two years, employees at Jabil Wuxi have visited the Children’s Welfare Center to bring food and clothing and spend time making arts and crafts. The children and their caretakers also attend the site’s annual Pig Roast and Family Day event so they know they are part of the Jabil family..
Singapore Jabil Cares
Likewise, Jabil Singapore has been working with Canossaville Children and Community Services, a residence for girls between the ages of 6 – 12 who were forced to leave home due to difficult family situations. Over the last couple of years, the Singapore facility has donated items such as books, sports equipment and holiday gifts, and this will continue as the site’s management team recently extended their relationship, exemplifying Jabil’s commitment to lasting relationships with community partners.
