Jabil is Embracing Equity Across the Globe

International Women's Day and Women’s History Month are dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of women and working towards a more equitable future. At Jabil, sites around the world have embraced this year's theme of #EmbraceEquity by launching a variety of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. From special events to community outreach and Jabil Cares efforts, employees have come together to support women in their workplaces and beyond.

Committing to Equity

Earlier in March, Chihuahua’s team set up an event focused on the official theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, Embrace Equity. They were joined by a local Mexican journalist Paola Rojas Hinojos, who gave a speech about the achievements and contributions women have made to society and the importance of equity to all genders. With over 350 in-person attendees and more than 600 streaming live, the event connected and educated so many of our employees. Throughout the event, volunteers from Jabil Cares collected more than 900 personal hygiene items for the San Agustin Migrant Shelter and the Women’s CERESO (Jail) of the City of Chihuahua. Chihuahua’s work continues to leave a positive impact on Jabil and the community at large.

Inspiring Change

Jabil Penang announced a series of DEI initiatives launched in honor of International Women's Day 2023. These included a video campaign promoting equity in the workplace, talent celebration slides to showcase at the site, and a special dialogue session with a specific focus on International Women's Day.

For the second consecutive year, they were one of the main sponsors for the Women in Zcience (WIZ) program, aimed at encouraging young women to pursue STEM careers. The initiative is in collaboration with two other local organizations, Tech Dome (TD) Penang and Penang Women's Development Corporation (PWDC). This combination of community involvement and programming for women has showcased their commitment to building a more diverse talent pipeline.

Empowering Women

Jabil Uzhgorod’s team of DEI Champions also took the opportunity to support their local community to celebrate International Women's Day. Working closely with their human resources and environmental health and safety teams, they visited two organizations in the region: a center for refugees affected by war and the Regional Social Center for mothers and children. The team’s goal was to uplift and empower women facing a variety of challenges with their Jabil Cares spirit and determination to impact those in need in their community. They provided donations of hygiene products and products for children, and engaged in coffee talks to connect with women at the organization to spread their message beyond the workplace. These efforts not only promoted a more inclusive and equitable community but also contributed to the Jabil's commitment to social responsibility.

Celebrating Talent

Jabil Manaus recognized International Women's Day with a grand event, that started with celebrating women and their accomplishments by showcasing them in their main communication channels. This recognition was a pleasant surprise and well-received by all who participated. The site also provided a variety of other activities to demonstrate their appreciation that included a small shop and the distribution of gifts, a well-attended financial literacy seminar through a local university, and a special lunch provided to connect women. To end the day with a focus on relaxation, Jabil offered massage sessions exclusively for women. Overall, the event was a huge success and demonstrated the site's commitment and support to its women employees.

Creating a Better Future

Jabil Dublin combined their passion for DEI with community outreach efforts to honor this year’s International Women’s Day by raising funds for Women’s Aid, a charity organization that supports women who have experienced domestic violence. The Embracing Equity Competition, a friendly contest started to raise donations among employees, encouraged everyone to get involved in their own unique way. Participants shared photos and short stories about how they have embraced equity or who they believe embraces equity and how. Jabil Dublin donated €5 to Women’s Aid for every submission. All submissions were entered into a raffle with prizes awarded on March 8. The event was not only a fun bonding experience for employees but supported an incredible cause for women in their community.

International Women's Day is a global day of celebration dedicated to the achievements of women and working toward creating a more equitable world for all. This year’s theme to #EmbraceEquity was embraced by Jabil employees around the world.
