Cross-functional Teams

Each project has a designated team that consists of a Project Manager, Engineering Lead, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, and Software Engineer.

The team works closely with you throughout the project phases. This provides engineering support from the engineering phase through testing and eventually sign-off of the project. The team structure is ideal for customers that have an NPI project, providing support when design is continuously evolving until it is introduced into the market.

Our mechanical engineers, software, controls, and design engineers, all share space along with your Project Manager and production manufacturing. Physical proximity means your team ideates and collaborates on your project in-person, with all the required resources for a successful project.

Daily standups, as well as weekly meetings and design reviews, frequently include passionate idea sessions that result in groundbreaking solutions.

These engineers practice continuous education and cross-training, preventing any skill-set gaps and gathering new ideas to put into action. Their efforts haven’t gone unrecognized, with six patents issued to our engineers.

Case Study

We recently solved a challenge to automate the alignment and assembly of two optical components for an AR system. Each device had to be aligned to the other with exacting flatness, translation and rotation. We provided a line of equipment that dispensed three different types of adhesives, integrated ten axes on one machine, and seven axes for a second application, achieving a system repeatability to better than 10 microns. We met the customer’s accuracy requirements with a 2:1 improvement over their expectations.

Final Assembly and Sub-micron Precision

Jabil’s Precision Automation engineers have a wide variety of experience and tools to meet your final assembly and inspection automation needs, no matter what the tolerances.

We’ve designed machines to assemble miniature cameras using vision serving to 25µm down to 10µm, to 1µm, and nano positioning, and maintain position during adhesive dispensing and UV cure; all at a rate of 60 uph.

We have produced equipment to assemble, bond and cure optical components that needed to be aligned to 5µm accuracy, designed around sub-micron positioners and nanometer scale sensors. Not all applications are such high precision. We also support common hand-assembly processes that need to be done faster or more consistently.
