Jabil’s May Yap Awarded 2021 CIO Of The Year By IDC Singapore

Award recognizes her exemplary work in digital transformation

Singapore, 22 September 2021 – Jabil Inc. (NYSE: JBL), a global manufacturing solutions provider, today announced that Chief Information Officer May Yap has been recognized as CIO of the Year by IDC Asia / Pacific in the 2021 IDC Future Enterprise Awards Singapore (FE Awards). IDC’s FE Awards recognizes outstanding professionals that have made critical breakthroughs in digital transformation across the Asia Pacific region.

“I'm delighted to be conferred the Singapore 2021 CIO of the Year award by IDC,” said Yap. “The manufacturing industry is seeing a growing demand for intelligent data and digital solutions. Customers are looking to Jabil to increase innovation and competitive advantage by combining technology, data and scale to harness actionable insights. This award provides a strong momentum for my team and I to bring to fruition the vision of IT as a key enabler.”

In today’s digital economy, the markets Jabil serves continue to become more dynamic and competitive, placing increasing demands on the manufacturing, delivery and distribution of customers’ products. Additionally, architecting solutions for the world’s most well-known brands requires Jabil to be agile to adapt to customers’ expanding product complexity and high expectations.

From early on, Yap recognized that the future of manufacturing and operations will be shaped by strong digital connectivity, the use of Big Data and a skilled labor force. By strategically defining digital transformation into three distinct parts – people, process and technology – she drove key transformation programs to deliver tangible results. Yap was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Jabil effective 1 September 2020 for her exemplary work.

Jabil’s submission was selected among over 1,000 high-quality entries received from end-user organizations across Asia Pacific. This initial win at the country-level allows Jabil to qualify as one of IDC’s finalists for the regional awards, which will be decided by a regional panel of judges comprising IDC worldwide analysts, industry thought leaders and academia.

With more than 20 years of experience, Yap joined Jabil in 2014 as Vice President and CIO for Jabil Green Point, a segment within Jabil, where she oversaw IT operations across more than 20 sites and 60,000 employees. During her Jabil tenure, she has taken structured steps to drive effective digital transformation throughout the business and helped set the stage for the next generation of connected and cognitive factories. As Jabil’s enterprise CIO, she spearheads key transformation programs at Jabil, leveraging technology, smart systems and analytics and has responsibilities for smooth IT operations across the company. Yap also carries a passion for expanding diversity and inclusion (D&I) and is a regular speaker at internal Jabil D&I forums.
